The Big Gamble began as a solo bass song that was more of a chord melody, lo-fi thing. It was written in response to a gambling addiction and its fallout that tore parts of my family apart during this time. I brought the song to an original group that I was working with at the time, called 'Dear Karma', fronted by a great friend, writer, and vocalist, Alyce Hart here in Milwaukee. I told her the inspiration for the song, and she absolutely nailed the theme with these descriptive lyrics and simple but powerful melody.
