Contemplative is the adjective I'd use for this song. It was the last one that came for the album, as I was convinced for a long time that Inside of Me was going to be the album-ender. Every song on this album except Aftermath was born of a visceral reaction to specific instances. For them, they came very quickly, all at once, I laid down scratch tracks at the very least so I knew what to do when I had time to revisit and record, then braced myself for whatever was coming next in the life-chaos and jumped back into it. Throughout this time, I played more gigs, directed more musicals, travelled more, and otherwise did everything more than I'd ever done before. In short, I didn't have time to process much of anything except for when a song forced itself out of me.

March 2020 saw me at a level of burnout I'd never been, but I'd said yes to so many things at that point that there was no possibility of slowing down. Then the pandemic shutdown hit, which changed all of our lives. In the space of 4 days, 6 months of gigs disappeared off of my calendar, school was out for the foreseeable future, and I had a lot of time on my hands. I didn't pick up a bass, outside of teaching lessons or the odd remote recording commission, for 3 months. When I picked it back up, it felt fresh, and snippets of this song started to appear in my practice sessions. Definitely not all at once, but a collection of ideas borne from a place of peace that had not been in my life for a very long time. That place of peace helped solidify this song, and allowed me to accept a lot of good into my life- a new partner that became my amazing wife and mother to our son, professional recognition and satisfaction, and more.
